What is Cinco de Mayo?

Cinco de Mayo, May 5th, is celebrated to commemorate the Mexican Armey's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. The day is mainly celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States, where there is a great population of Mexican descents.

How to celebrate?

Although primarily observed in the state of Puebla, in Mexico, festive events take place with recreation of the historical event and military parades. In the US, Cinco de Mayo parties are held to celebrate the Mexican heritage and culture, with food, music, and dancing.
