Things to do in Miami

Sunbathing and Water Sports

Miami Beach is easily the most popular destination in the area for sun seekers. You'll also be able to enjoy some water sports such as snorkeling, diving and jet-skiing while you are there. This is also the place to head if you prefer an all over tan, as topless sunbathing is increasingly common. South Beach is known as the best place to sunbathe by day and party by night, and is popular with university students visiting for spring break.

Shopping

Once you've explored the beautiful beaches, you may well want to hit the shops and bag yourself a bargain or two. Collins Avenue, located between 3rd Street and 15th Street, is known for its eclectic collection of shops, from secondhand shops to designer outlets, with items on offer for all interests. Down in South Beach, visit Lincoln Road to check out the shopping centre, as well as various antiques markets and a farmer's market on Sundays.

Touring and Trekking

To learn more about the city's rich history, as well as hottest spots to visit now, take a city tour. An experienced guide can show you the sights on land and at sea, as boat tours of the beaches and bays are also on offer. To explore the breathtaking Everglades National Park, book an air boat tour, and enjoy the world renowned 'river of grass' and come face to face with some unusual and fascinating wildlife. There are a variety of sightseeing cruises available to book, or alternatively, you can charter a yacht for the day and take control of your own trip. For a speedier ride, you can also rent kayaks and jet skis.

Rest and Relaxation

If some pampering is more appealing to you, head down to Lapis Spa, located in the luxury Fontainebleau hotel near Ocean Avenue. You can visit alone or book a package for two, enjoy a range of relaxing treatments and entry to the spa's gym and beauty salon.

Nightlife

Space Miami is an award-winning club in the city's downtown area, and boasts several different rooms playing different genres of music. The club often attracts globally famous DJs and holds regular themed parties. For a quieter, but no less enjoyable night, pay a visit to Bongos Cuban Cafe, a chain of restaurants and nightspots owned by the singer Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio. There are locations all over the area, which serve tasty Latin American food in daylight hours, and host live Latin music performances and club nights in the evening.
