If you've only got time to make one stop in the city, head to The Peak. This is the highest point on the island and is known as the city's most exclusive neighbourhood, having been so since colonial times. Ride the Peak Tram for an unforgettable experience, as skyscrapers pass close by, you slowly rise to The Peak on the city's historic funicular railway. For uninterrupted views of the city's skyline, head to The Peak Tower with its large viewing platform known as 8Sky Terrace 428.
The aptly-named Ladies' Market on Tung Choi Street, in Mong Kok provides a kilometre-long stretch lined with over 100 stalls of accessories, souvenirs and bargain clothing. The market derives its name from the huge amount of clothing and accessories on sale for women, but with jewellery, home furnishings and trinkets on offer, the market makes for a fun day out for everybody. Sitting at the top of the shopping league table is Causeway Bay, a compact but equally jam-packed shopping area specialising in everything from affordable market fashion to home accessories and electronics.
With the breath-taking skyline of dizzying skyscrapers and glittering light displays, it's worth taking a stroll along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade to enjoy the nightlife. The promenade starts at the Clock Tower and extends all the way to Hung Hom. Clocking in at 44-metres tall, the old Clock Tower was built in 1915 as part of the Kowloon-Canton Railway terminus. The red granite and brick tower is now preserved as a Declared Monument and is an unforgettable landmark for millions of Chinese immigrants who travelled through the terminus to start new lives in Hong Kong. Photographers will love the spectacular views the promenade provides, and the romantic sight of lights glistening in the busy waters of Victoria Harbour, making the promenade an ideal place for holidaying couples.
Ocean Park opened in 1977 and has been thrilling visitors with its animal exhibits, stomach-flipping rollercoasters and attractions ever since. The park is situated on the south side of the island and covers a vast 915,000 square metres. Exhibits include Adventures in Australia, featuring adorable koalas and sprightly wallabies, and Shark Mystique, a journey to the depths of the ocean to meet over a hundred sharks and rays.
