Events in Namibia

Although Namibia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world, there are plenty of huge events many people attend to and celebrate.

Enjando Street Festival (March)

Held every March in the capital city of Windhoek, the Enjando Street Festival, also known as Mbapira, is a huge gathering consisting of lots of dancing in colorful and vibrant costumes, accompanied by live music. This event lasts for two days.

Independance Day (March)

Independance Day is one of the biggest and most celebrated events in Namibia. Since it used to be ruled by the Germans back in 1884 until the end of World War I, then by South Africa until 1990, every March 21st marks a day in which the country can celebrate the independance they gained after more than 100 years of being controlled.

Africa Day (May)

During Africa Day, the people of Namibia come together and celebrate the diversity of Africa and its people while promoting peace and coexistance among others. They also reflect on the progress of the country, while highlighting issues that still need to be resolved. It's a great event for tourists to learn about African history and the struggles the country has had to overcome.

Oktoberfest (October)

Although German rule in Namibia has been over for a very long time, their tradition of Oktoberfest is still celebrated in the country annually. Filled with games, food, and most importantly beer, party hard with the crowd in the capital city of Windhoek.
