Discover the Game of Thrones filming locations
Are you an avid Game of Thrones fan? Ever wanted to see the City Walls of Dubrovnik or Kingsroad in real life? Combine your holiday with a visit to the set of your favourite Game of Thrones scenes.
Belfast, Northern Island
The main set for Game of Thrones is Titanic Studios in Belfast. But various locations around Northern Ireland were also used for filming. There's the home of the Castle Black set at Magheramorne Quarry, the Tourney of the Hand at Shane's Castle and, of course, King's Road.
Dubrovnik, Croatia
The beautiful UNESCO City Walls of Dubrovnik can been seen in many episodes of Game of Thrones, but sites across the city have also been used! Spot Fort Lovrijenac, used particularly in the opening of Season 2, and Lokrum Island which is also a popular tourist destination for locals.
Malta
Filming mainly centred around the town of Mdina, but the most famous set is the Azure Window on the Maltese island of Gozo. The coastal feature collapsed in a storm at the beginning of 2017, but it's still a beautiful area and where Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen got married.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Iceland has been used for panaromic shots and nature scenes since Season 2, and is known for the waterfalls, glaciers and National Parks. Seasons 3 and 4 in particular were filmed in Iceland with Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir hot spring being included. The natural beauty and stunning scenery shot was captured perfectly on GoT showcasing highlights of Iceland. Does this cave look familiar?
Seville, Spain
Filming started for Spain in Season 5, and returned in Season 6, as the crew wanted to have new scenery for the Eastern and Southern parts of the GoT world. The Royal Shipyards and the Real Alcázar de Sevilla are two of the locations used in Seville, but other locations such as the ruins of Italica were also used.
