Dream away on these African islands
If you're planning a holiday in Africa, the Big Five – the African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, lion and rhinoceros – should be on your list. But if you're looking for a more relaxing holiday, you'll want to check out our list of African islands. Pearl white beaches, beautiful coral reefs, and crystal clear water... Dream away on these African islands!
1. Seychelles
The Seychelles is a fairly well-known holiday island. Since there are 115 islands all together, there is much more to discover than only the main island of Mahé. For the undiscovered beaches and silence, go to La Digue. For the most beautiful nature you should visit Praslin (but it will be more crowded with tourists).
2. Madagascar
Madagascar is the most colorful island where you still have a lot of undiscovered nature and beaches. Since there is not a large flow of tourists here, you can enjoy yourself among the locals. Join a local fishing boat, dive at Nosy Be or Mahambo (in the north) or see the eccentric Baobab trees with your own eyes. Who knows, you might even spot a lemur!
3. Zanzibar
Zanzibar, the name alone sounds like a wonderful far-away destination. This island has the best restaurant in Tanzania, Africa and perhaps the whole world. It is located in the water. In the morning you can easily walk there, and when it is flooded you will be brought by boat. This restaurant has 45 tables and is the pinnacle of romantic dining. Visiting the beach near the restaurant after your meal is also recommended.
4. São Tome and Príncipe
São Tome and Príncipe is a nation and belongs to the Comoros. The main island is São Tome. You may think that a main island has already been discovered by tourists… Well no! This island is not crowded yet. You can safely lie on the beach without meeting anyone.
5. Sal
Sal is a beautiful African island and is known for its large beaches. But it is also nice to be in the Island' small towns, with beautifully colored houses and cozy restaurants. This island is very touristic. Many people who visit Cape Verde go to this island. But that should not spoil the fun: plenty of sun, sea and beaches!
There are many more beautiful dream islands in Africa. What is your favorite one?
