Lufthansa is Germany’s flag carrier. It is also the largest airline in Germany; when all its subsidiaries are put together, Lufthansa is Europe’s second largest airline. Lufthansa has a primary hub at the Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) called the Lufthansa Aviation Center. There is a secondary Flight Operations Center at the Munich Airport (MUC). The airline is headquartered in Cologne, Germany.

Though formally established in 1953, Lufthansa traces its history to 1926 when Deutsche Luft Hansa A.G. was established. After the Second World War, the new Lufthansa was formed. Today, Lufthansa is a proud member of the Star Alliance group. It has codeshare agreements with Air Canada, Air India, Egypt Air, Singapore Airlines, United Airlines, among others.

Lufthansa currently operates a fleet of 300 aircraft comprised mainly of Airbus and Boeing aircraft and flies to more than 200 destinations worldwide. The number of destinations jump above 400 when all partners are included. The airline flew 142 million passengers in 2018 alone.

Lufthansa Travel Experience

Lufthansa offers four main cabin experiences for its travelers.

Business Class

Lufthansa’s Business Class tickets offer lounge access at any of Lufthansa’s lounges around the world. Services are tailored to meet long and short-haul requirements so travelers can have a short rest if needed. This is easier with seats that unfold to almost 2-meter-long flatbeds. In addition, Business Class passengers have access to hours of entertainment on personalized a TV console with maximum legroom for comfort and relaxation.

First Class

First Class flyers receive a Valet Parking service on arrival at the airport as well as a personal assistant to guide them through their expedited check-in experience. Onboard, First Class passengers get premium culinary service with fresh hot foods and healthy snacks while enjoying hours of entertainment.

Economy Class

Lufthansa’s Economy Class offers travelers 40 cm-wide seats with adjustable headrests. There is enough legroom for each passenger while enjoying hours of audiobooks, magazines, and videos from the personal TV screens onboard.

Premium Economy Class

With Premium Class, travelers get more free baggage allowance and up to 50% extra personal space. Travelers will also have an 11-12-inch personal touch screen TV while sipping on a welcome drink from Lufthansa’s range of cocktails.

Lounge

Lufthansa has flagship lounges at its primary and secondary hubs in Germany. The Business Class Lounge provides a buffet of fresh snacks and beverages.

The Senator Lounge offers a Quiet Room at the rear where travelers can relax on leather seats in relative privacy.

In the First Class Lounge, be prepared to properly relax in the exclusive Spa Area where travelers can enjoy a whirlpool bath. The Welcome Lounge offers enough room to sleep during a long layover.
