Fly with KLM
KLM is the national flag carrier of the Netherlands. Headquartered in Amstelveen with a primary hub at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), the Royal Dutch Airlines is a SkyTeam Air Alliance member. It is also one half of the Air France-KLM group after a successful merger in 2004. In addition to Amsterdam, KLM operates from the Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) due to its ties with Air France.
Established in 1919, KLM is the oldest airline in the world. The Air France-KLM group has a fleet of more than 500 aircraft and operates over 2,300 flights daily to 312 destinations worldwide. It flew some 100 million passengers in 2018 alone, making the franchise one of the largest and busiest in the world.
KLM's fleet includes eight Airbus A330-200, 31 Boeing 737-800, and 15 Boeing 777-200ER among other aircraft. In addition to the SkyTeam alliance, KLM maintains codeshare agreements with Bangkok Airways, Etihad Airways, and many others.
KLM rewards loyal clients with its frequent flyer program, Flying Blue. In addition to KLM, you can accumulate Flying Blue miles by flying with other SkyTeam partners. Flyers can accumulate their miles using Award Miles of Level Miles, each with unique benefits. Each traveler is eligible to reach the four tiers of Flying Blue namely Ivory, Silver, Gold, and Platinum depending on the number of miles covered.
KLM Travel Experience
KLM offers two main cabin experiences for its travelers.
Business Class
KLM's Business Class seats are 20 inches wide with a pitch of 60 inches. The seats recline to an average of 170 degrees and stretch out into a 75-inch flatbed. Each traveler gets a personal touch screen TV to enjoy hundreds of hours of entertainment while onboard.
Some aircraft have diamond-shaped seats with each passenger having access to the isle in a 1-2-1 seating pattern. In terms of catering, Business Class passengers enjoy a three-course meal or a hot main course depending on how long the journey is.
Economy Class
KLM's Economy Class offers travelers 17.5-inch wide seats with up to 35-inch pitch. The seats come with headrests and a satellite telephone at hand. You also get to enjoy hundreds of in-flight entertainment via a personal TV screen. All Economy Class flyers enjoy at least one hot meal depending on the duration of the flight.
Lounge
KLM has flagship lounges at different airports around the world. There are two KLM Crown Lounges at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. There is also one at the Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and another one at Houston George Bush International Airport (IAH).
KLM Crown Lounges are divided into themes to suit the exact needs of each flyer. The Polder area is a work station for business deals, while City offers you a space to eat and to relax. Dutch Mountain is where you go to enjoy a movie before your flight. At Sea, you get to take a shower and catch a well-deserved nap ahead of your journey.
