Established in 1988, China Eastern Airlines is China's second-largest airline, headquartered in Shanghai. China Eastern Airlines Travel Experience

China Eastern Airlines has three main cabin classes: First, Business, and Economy Class. All seats on this airline recline, although First and Business Class passengers can recline entirely. Most seats have their own personal screen to view inflight entertainment, although this is not the case for all Economy Class journeys. Passengers with screens can view movies, TV shows, kids' channels or gaming channels.

Meals and beverages are included in all cabin classes for long-haul flights, with local and international cuisine options available as well as special meal requests for those with dietary requirements. Those in Business and First Class cabins will receive luxury meal and beverage options. Along with Eastern Miles members, such passengers can also access luxury lounges in airports across China and across select international airports.

China Eastern Airlines Check-in & Baggage

Online check-in is available on mobile or computer devices between 24 hours and 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Passengers should check their baggage at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure. Waiting times vary across airports. China Eastern Airlines will not reserve seats for passengers who have not presented themselves at the check-in desk 60 minutes prior to departure.

First Class

The checked luggage allowance for First Class passengers on domestic China Eastern Airlines flights is 40 kg/ 88 lbs. Passengers on international flights are permitted 3 pieces of checked luggage, each weighing up to 32 kg/ 70 lbs. First Class passengers traveling on both domestic and international flights may take 2 pieces of carry-on luggage, each weighing no more than 10 kg/ 22 lbs.

Business Class

Business Class passengers can take 30 kg/ 66 lbs of checked luggage on domestic flights. International China Eastern Airlines flights permit Business Class passengers 2 pieces of checked luggage, each weighing no more than 32 kg/ 70 lbs. On domestic and international flights, Business Class passengers are allowed 1 piece of carry-on luggage not exceeding 10 kg/ 22 lbs.

Economy Class

Checked-luggage allowance for domestic China Eastern Airlines flights is 20 kg/ 44 lbs. International Economy Class passengers are permitted 2 pieces of checked luggage, each weighing no more than 23 kg/ 50 lbs. Economy Class passengers on domestic and international flights can carry-on 1 piece of luggage, weighing no more than 10 kg/ 22 lbs.

Allowed Luggage Size Dimensions

The dimensions (length x width x height) of checked luggage for domestic and international flights should not exceed 158 cm/ 62 in. For domestic flights, carry-on luggage but not exceed the dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20 cm/ 21.6 x 15.8 x 7.9 in. For international flights, carry-on luggage must be within the dimensions of 56 x 45 x 25 cm/ 22 x 17.7 x 9.8 in.

Additional Information

Oversized and excess baggage incurs fees according to China Eastern Airlines baggage policy. Sporting and musical equipment that is within allowed luggage dimensions may be permitted under checked baggage, but passengers must alert airline staff of their requirements ahead of arrival at the airport. Those traveling with an infant are allowed to carry-on essentials such as food, diapers, and a collapsible lightweight stroller, as long as it fits within the baggage rack.
