As the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, Air Seychelles has the great privilege and responsibility to represent the idyllic islands. The airline began life in 1978 after the government of Seychelles combined several small air operators to provide air transport between the islands. In 1983, the airline's first long-haul flight traveled to London via Frankfurt and then in 1989, the airline's new Boeing 767-200 ER aircraft broke the previous long-distance record by traveling from Michigan, USA to Seychelles.
The airline continued to add more international destinations, including non-stop flights to Manchester and Paris, before entering into a partnership with Etihad Airways. Air Seychelles won the Indian Ocean's Leading Airline at the 2015 World Travel Awards and has been awarded the titles for Best Cabin Crew and Business Class in the region twice.

Economy Class passengers are permitted one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7 kg and Business Class passengers are permitted two bags weighing up to 12 kg in total. Each piece of hand luggage should not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20 cm (115 cm in total). One bag weighing up to 23 kg is allowed for infants.
