The beer comes in a Mass, a 1-litre mug. But go easy with the beer - the specially brewed Oktoberfestbier is strong with between 7.5-8.5% alcohol.
There is one trick to check if a German girl is single: If the bow on her Dirndl is on the right, it means she is taken or married. If she wears it on the left, go for it - she's single!
If you haven't reserved a table in a beer tent a year in advance, avoid weekends unless you want to line up at 6 am to get in. The best time to go is on a week day or late in the evening, just before the tents close around midnight.
Be prepared for German Schlager songs like Das rote Pferd or Fliegerlied. There are a lot of cheering traditions like standing on the bench and singing ein Prosit. You might need a few beers first, but it won't take you long before you start singing with the crowd!
Check out the official website of the city of Munich which provides information about all the events, such as the new Oktoberfest App with a lot of information for visitors!
