Royal Air Maroc is the national airline of Morocco, flying passengers to and from this northern African country and carrying in excess of nine million passengers each year. All major cities in Morocco are served by the airline, with France as the major foreign destination. The Americas are well served, too. Royal Air Maroc is a highly successful international airline with an enviable safety record, with independent surveys giving it four stars out of a possible five. Royal Air Maroc boasts a fleet of 53 modern well-maintained airplanes. Safar Flyer is the airline's frequent flyer programme offering upgrades and other benefits to those who use the airline often. Royal Air Maroc has been part of the OneWorld alliance since the beginning of April 2020.
The current fleet has a large number of Boeing 737s serving both domestic and African destinations. Boeing 767 and 787 airplanes serve long-haul routes. Royal Air Maroc serves 17 Moroccan destinations as well as 11 in France, the former colonial power. More than 40 other destinations are also served, many in Africa with others in the Americas and in Europe. Royal Air Maroc is based and headquartered at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. It is well known as Morocco's primary airline with all the high standards that are expected of a prestigious national carrier. Just over half the shares are owned by the Moroccan state, with an additional 40 percent held by a Moroccan state fund, and a small percentage are held by private investors. Royal Air Maroc is regarded as a major force among African airlines.
Royal Air Maroc offers a choice of Economy and Business Class travel. In the airline's Economy Class cabins, there is a seat pitch of between 30 and 32 inches. All Economy Class seats are finished in leather, for extra comfort and a touch of luxury. Each passenger has an 8.9-inch individual screen with a wide range of free content on offer, including a selection of music to suit all tastes. There are video games available. Lunch and dinner are served on flights of longer than two hours. On shorter flights, snacks are available. Hot and cold beverages are served at each passenger's seat. A selection of French and Moroccan wines are available.
Reclining leather seats in Royal Air Maroc's Business Class are shielded by an outer shell for privacy and have a massage function. A complimentary "Business Kit" is provided for each passenger in a distinctive zipped pouch. All meals are served on fine china, with the emphasis on Moroccan cuisine. USB ports to charge phones and laptops are provided along with noise-cancelling headphones. There is access to a library of newly released films along with a wide selection of music. Business Class passengers, and those with a qualifying Safar frequent flyer card, have access to the lavish Casablanca Lounge at Mohammed V International Airport.
Online check-in is available 48 hours before the time of departure, closing two hours before the flight leaves. Passengers are advised, for all flights, to arrive at the departure airport two hours before the take-off of their flight.
Business Class
For most destinations, Business Class passengers may check-in two 23 kg (50 lbs) bags. For destinations in the Americas as well as Brazil, China, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Turkey, and Jordan, Business Class passengers may check in three 23 kg (50 lbs) bags. One 10 kg (22 lbs) piece of hand luggage is allowed on board as well as a laptop computer.
Economy Class
In Economy Class, one piece of baggage weighing no more than 23 kg (50 lbs) may be checked in. For destinations in the Americas as well as Brazil, China, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan, two 23 kg (50 lbs) bags may be checked in. A 10 kg (22 lbs) piece of hand luggage plus a laptop computer may be taken on board.
Checked in luggage may not exceed 204 cm or 80 inches in total dimensions. Carry-on baggage must be no more than 115 cm or 45 inches in total dimensions.
Overweight luggage can be checked in at a fee. No more than three extra bags may be checked in with an individual weight of no more than 32 kg (70 lbs). The fees range from C $100 for the first bag to C $150 for each of the second and third bags.
