LOT Polish Airlines is Poland's national carrier and one of the oldest airlines in the world. The airline is a member of the Star Alliance with two major hubs: at its home Warsaw Chopin Airport and at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Hungary. The airline carries more than ten million passengers a year and is proud of both its history and a hard-earned reputation for safety, efficiency and hospitality. LOT Polish Airlines has a comprehensive network throughout Europe and especially on routes originating in and serving eastern Europe. The airline also serves a wide - and increasing - variety of destinations in North America, Asia and the Middle East.
The modern LOT Polish Airlines fleet comprises more than 100 airplanes, including 15 Boeing 787s and 12 De Havilland Dash 8 Q400s for domestic flights and journeys to near neighbours. The airline fleet also includes Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s. Independent ratings give LOT Polish Airlines 7/7 for safety on all of its many routes. The airline's contemporary livery is a development of its long-standing colours, featuring a crane on the tale and LOT Polish Airline's signature colours of white and dark blue. Miles and More is the airline's loyalty programme.
In Economy Class on long haul routes, largely on Boeing's 787 Dreamliner, LOT Polish Airlines offers a seat width of 43 cm (17 inches). All seats feature individual USB ports for each passenger and personal video screens with access to extensive on-board entertainment, including a choice of more than 100 TV series and films, with content curated to match the destination of the flight. There's also a wide audio selection and a free copy of the airline's 'Kaleidoscope' magazine. Electrical sockets for phones, tablets and laptop computers serve each seat. A three-course meal is offered in Economy Class on long haul flights with snacks and soft drinks available on short-haul journeys.
The airline's "SkyBar" offers alcoholic drinks. Premium Economy is LOT Polish Airlines' enhanced Economy offering with a seat width of 50 cm (20 inches) and a high-quality menu served on porcelain china. Alcoholic drinks are available at no extra charge. Polish Airlines' Business Class is the airline's premium offering with service to match. Polish Airlines' Business Class offers access to business lounges at airports worldwide as well as providing upgraded service on check-in. A luxurious 200 cm (79-inch) seat, on long haul flights, reclines with a head and footrest to provide comfort while sleeping. The enhanced menu, served on porcelain china, includes a selection of fine dining options and a choice of upscale wines and Champagnes. LOT Polish Airlines Business Class passengers also benefit from a dedicated phone line to change bookings or for general enquiries and priority baggage pick up. There's no Wi-Fi on board in any of the airline's cabins. Business Class passengers, however, benefit from free Wi-Fi at all business lounges that they have access to worldwide.
LOT Polish Airlines passengers can check-in online from 36 hours prior to takeoff. Online check-in closes two hours before departure. Automated online check-in is available to all Business and Premium Economy customers. All LOT Polish Airlines passengers are advised to arrive at departure airports a minimum of two hours before their flights, whether it's a long or short-haul journey.
Business Class
On long haul flights, passengers can check-in three pieces of luggage, weighing up to 32 kg (70 lbs) each. On short-haul flights, Business Class passengers can check-in two pieces of luggage also of no more than 32 kg (70 lbs) each. Two pieces of carry-on luggage are permitted, with a weight of no more than nine kg (20 lbs).
Economy Class
Economy Class passengers on most flights can check-in one piece of luggage weighing no more than 23 kg (50 lbs). Some intercontinental flights allow for two pieces of luggage of 23 kg (50 lbs). Economy passengers are advised to enquire when booking. Premium Economy passengers on all flights can check in two items of baggage weighing no more than 23 kg (50 lbs) each. Premium Economy and Economy passengers may take a single bag onto the plane, with the weight limited to eight kg (18 lbs).
Carry-on baggage in all classes must not exceed 23 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm (10 inches x 15 inches x 22 inches). Checked-in baggage, again in all classes, must not be more than 158 cm (62 inches) in its total dimensions. To work out this figure, the airline says passengers should simply add together the bag's width, height and depth.
Each additional piece of luggage, at no more than 23 kg (50 lbs) and with total dimensions not exceeding 158 cm (92 inches), costs about C$ 115. Each larger piece, up to 32 kg (70 lbs) and again with dimensions not exceeding 158 cm (62 inches), costs up to C$ 250. Miles and More, the airline's loyalty programme, offers points that can be redeemed against future flights or a choice of selected products. On all flights, infants can be served with a special meal on board, when requested in advance.
