Flying to more than 60 destinations worldwide and employing no fewer than 3,900 staff, Kenya Airways is the flag carrier of Kenya. Founded in 1977, the airline was established in the wake of the demise of East Africa Airways. The airline began operations with a modest fleet of two leased Boeing 707-321s, three Fokker F-27-200s and one Douglas DC-9-52. By the latter part of the 70s, the airline added three Boeing 707s and had expanded operations by forming a subsidiary airline Kenya Flamingo Airlines. Since 1980, the company has grown exponentially and today boasts a fleet size of 37 aircraft including Boeing 737-700s, Boeing 737-800s, Boeing 787-8s, Embraer ERJ-190s and Boeing 737-300Fs.
In 2012, Kenya Airways developed a plan to extend its operations and add a further 24 destinations to their itinerary including routes to Australia, parts of Asia, North and South America and Moscow. The airline also codeshares with more than 20 other airlines and has headquarters in Embakasi, Nairobi and Kenya. Additionally, the airline has received broad acclaim for its outstanding service and safety record and has received multiple awards and accolades including Africa's Leading Airline Business Class in the World Travel Awards for four consecutive years and the Best International Airline. The airline has an excellent reputation and, consequently, has developed a loyal base of return customers.
This award-winning airline offers both Economy and Business Class tickets. Economy Class ticket holders can expect comfortable seating, in-flight entertainment, excellent customer service, inflight meals and, should you have any specific dietary requirements, Kenya Airways will endeavour to cater for your needs.
