A Brief History of JetBlue Airways
JetBlue Airways is an American airline that flies to 106 destinations and is the sixth-largest airline in the country. Their headquarters are situated in Long Island, New York, and their main base is the John F. Kennedy International Airport. The airline mainly flies to destinations in the United States but also to the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
The airline was founded in Delaware in August 1998. They stood out thanks to their low prices and amenities; they offered lots of extras such as TVs in every seat and satellite radio. The first flights departed in 2000 to Buffalo and Fort Lauderdale. The company grew rapidly and ordered 36 new planes in 2006, expanding their operations to several new destinations.
JetBlue Airways has since become known for its initiatives to make flights more comfortable for customers, from in-flight snack boxes to free WiFi for all passengers. Their TVs have over 30 channels and all seats have extra legroom.
Flying with JetBlue Airways
The airline offers four fare options or classes: Blue, Blue Flex, Blue Plus and Mint. Blue Flex customers have access to benefits such as an allowance for one more checked piece of baggage, more legroom and expedited security. Mint customers have access to JetBlue Movies for free as well as a lie-flat seat, fine dining options, early boarding and a dedicated check-in.
The company also offers a frequent-flyer program called True Blue. It's free to join the program and easy to earn points with every flight taken. People flying in the Blue Class can also earn three points for every dollar spent within the program. Points can be donated to charity or redeemed to pay for flights with the airline or on Hawaiian Air. They can pay for newspaper or magazine subscriptions and can be spent in the True Blue shop. They can also be transferred to family members.
