Flair Airlines is Canada’s first and only independent ultra-low cost carrier airline. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, the airline's main hub is located at Edmonton International Airport, with a secondary hub at Winnipeg International Airport. It flies to only 11 destinations in Canada, including popular destinations such as Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Winnipeg.
The carrier started operating in 2005 as a charter airline under their original name, Flair Air. However, in 2017, Flair Air changed its name to Flair Airlines, and transitioned towards operating scheduled ultra-low cost flights, acquiring more planes and expanding their route network. In early 2019, the airline overhauled its brand into a whole new look, going from its signature colors of red and purple to black and mint green. They changed their livery to be more minimalistic in order to reflect their new “plane and simple” branding, much like how the airline operates itself. Moreover, Flair Airlines carried nearly one million passengers throughout that very same year.
Starting in July 2020, members of Aeroplan’s frequent flyer programme will be able to receive and redeem Aeroplan Miles when booking flights with Flair Airlines. Although Aeroplan is owned by Air Canada, as a preferred partner, members will be able to redeem their miles for Flair Airlines flights at fixed-rate fares.
Flair Airlines' fares are so low due to them being an ultra-low cost, no-frills, airline. As a result, the travel experience is "plane and simple."
All of the seats in Flair's planes are in an economy class configuration, but passengers can pay an additional fee to choose where they want to sit for maximum comfort.
Moreover, Flair Airlines does not offer inflight entertainment, wifi, and charging ports. They recommend that passengers should download shows/movies on their phones or other devices, as well as charging them fully before boarding your flight.
Although Flair Airlines snacks and drinks are available for a fee (not complimentary), there is a wide selection of items, for under $10.
Online check-in for flights opens 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. Passengers can check-in up to an hour before the scheduled departure time. Passengers should arrive at the airport at least an hour or two before your flight.
